Yellow Birch Graphics Logos

Yellow Birch Graphics Logo

As a designer, when it comes to your own business and logo, it's going to hit closer to home. Rather than working on someone else's vision, I'm the one who has the final say in the final product. It's liberating, but at the same time, boundaries tend to tigger more creativity. A lot of times companies change names and logos, and Yellow Birch Graphics is the last one that I landed on. However, the color palette is rather stunning, so I'm going to keep it for a while. I came to the color selection in the classic way, in which I chose a dark and light neutral, and something in between. Then I chose a highlight color, and then a soft pastel to complement it.
I knew when I started working on the site that the marketing was going to have a cleaner black and white asthetic, and I wanted the logo to pop but not too much. I felt that the yellow and the pastel blue achieved this, and the yellow draws attention when it's used as a call to action. Most of the buttons on my site are yellow, but the pastel blue softens it a bit so it's not so obvious.

The Coloring Collections

When I set up the website, I knew that I wanted to release a coloring collection each month for at least a couple of years until I have a sizeable archive established. I can try to market, but if I don't have a product to sell, there's really not much I can display on the website. Although marketing is very much a craft in itself. Each month I choose a subject, and then create eighteen images, and then publish them for free on my website. I like to offer the service for free, because hobbies are expensive, and it's hard for everyone out there. People have the option of just printing a couple of pages, gather some art supplies, and then spend an afternoon coloring with the kids, girlfriends, or just for some stress relief. Teachers have the option of printing out the pages as well.

Lighthouse Collection

The lighthouse collection is the latest collection that I released, and I'm really proud of it. If I were to release a coloring book, this will be the first collection where I will want to test it out. I'm still working on the content, and I hope to have forty to fifty coloring sheets and cover ready to publish by April. I already have eighteen, so I'm close to half way there. Majority of people that I talk to have a fascination with lighthouses, just due to the structure's solitary presence and the lifesaving service that they provide.
